RE: [AGENDA] Media Annotations WG Teleconf - 2011-02-08

Joakim,

I believe I took the pain of explaining and listing the reasonable options, repeating myself several times.

I also believe that there are more voices for keeping string.

And I would obviously take silence for the supporting the current approach which is systematically supporting URI and/or string.

Regards,

Jean-pierre

Dear Jean-Pierre,
I truly appreciate your commitment and taking responsibility of the group, it would not have been the same without you. You are right, defining "compression" *is* out of my domain of expertise, which is precisely why I have consulted you and some other people in order to solve it. But since you can't find an agreement if think the only correct way is to ask the whole group for their opinion. It is then of course very important that everyone understands the problem fully and that *all* the alternatives are listed.

Best regards
/Joakim

Actually I don't care. My position is rock solid and I can support both.

I am just worried that I have to take the Chairman role by protecting all participating parties' interest who originally asked for string.

I believe that taking a poll only reflects an insufficient level of expertise here.

So far counting would already mean that 2 voices from seasoned MAWG participants took position for keeping string (which doesn't mean being against URI as we pushed it forward) against one late comment.

You don't seem to realise you are shooting yourself in the foot.

Actually I don't know why I keep repeating things as you don't seem to read the mail but seem only ready to take (the wrong ?) side.

Jean-Pierre

I suggest we make a web poll on this issue, it should be decided in consensus by the community!

Apologies for tomorrow. I am at the W3C Web&TV seminar in Berlin.

I am waiting for final comments on the RDF and may send a new version later today with minor changes.

I feel I have restate my opinion about the values of the ma:compression attribute.

The current situation is that the value can be "URI or string".

There is a proposal to make it URI only.

I am personally in favour or leaving some flexibility at this stage. I can personally do URI only but I am not sure it is true for all the community.

If there were a decision taken to change compression to URI only, I would therefore require that the same logic to have only dereferencable values applies to all pairs URI/string, which should be changed to URI only.

Best regards,

Jean-pierre
