Re: source that PDF supports MathML

Hi Stephen,

- PDF 2.0 (ISO 32000-2), published in summer 2017, supports MathML in tagged PDF; some info can be found on the pdfa.org <http://pdfa.org/> website (use this search term: "mathml site:pdfa.org <http://pdfa.org/>" )
- in addition, PDF 2.0 has a mechanism called "associated files" which makes it straightforward to associate content like an equation in PDF (that in itself may not reflect the inner structure of that equation) with a file containing a suitable representation of that equation, e.g. using MathML, LaTeX, ASCIIMath or whatever (or several files, each with a different representation form of that content).
- Ross Moore from the Mathematics Dept at Macquarie University/Australia has done a lot of work regarding creation of math PDF from TeX/LaTeX, if you want to do any work in this field you should get in touch with him (search for "ross moore mathml tex" to find more info)
