Open Geospatial Consortium Testbed 14

Hi,

Last year Natural Resources Canada sponsored Map Markup Language related requirements in the OGC Testbed 13.

I'm happy to report that the Testbed 13 was a success for MapML, and with that we are looking to further advance the requirements of the Maps for HTML Community Group's goals with respect to MapML once again, in Testbed 14. It's our intention, through sponsoring these initiatives, that a document-oriented format for geospatial information such as MapML, will arise such that it will be a readily attainable goal (by browsers, not to mention GIS applications) to implement maps in HTML or other document-oriented clients.

I'll report back here with links to results of Testbed 13 in an email at a later date.

The purpose of this email is to invite companies and individuals interested in the goals of the Maps for HTML Community Group to participate in the upcoming OGC Testbed 14, in which advancing MapML will again be an objective.

There will be a Testbed 14 Bidders' Q&A Webinar TODAY, January 12 at 12 EDT. Connection details and further information (including how to register for the webinar) can be found here: http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/requests/160 Please note that REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for the webinar.

Also note that your company does not have to be a member of the OGC to participate, initially at least. If becoming an OGC member presents a barrier to your involvement, please let me know and I will do what I can to make the process easier.

Thanks,
Peter
