Re: WCAG 2.2 status update

Hi everyone,

After the meeting yesterday a quick update:

  * Important controls: We didn’t have much time during the meeting so it will be up again next week, please do review & comment, it has changed since December:
https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/35422/essential-controls/

NB: It also needs someone to write a simple technique.
The others for next week are:

  *   Touch target spacing https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/35422/target-spacing/

  *   Information in steps: https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/35422/info-in-steps/

Please do review & consider these before Tuesday, think about how you would apply them in your daily work, or how they would affect websites you work on.

Other updates:

  * Accessible authentication: Preliminary approval, a pull request will be created for approval into the working draft.
  * Dragging: We need examples, otherwise it is tricky to see it progressing. Detlev’s email:
https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-gl/2020JanMar/0069.html

  * Visual indicators: Creating a catalogue of examples is required. It looks like this issue, whilst important, is not ready enough for 2.2.
  * Icon Description: Lots of discussion, it doesn’t appear to be ready in its current form due to lack of reasonable solutions across technologies (i.e. touch screens). There is potential for focusing it to hover/focus/click (desktop environments) and/or splitting into two at AA/AAA. Needs someone to work on those updates.
The others haven’t changed since the last status email.
Kind regards,

-Alastair
