Re: [White House announcement] We're making a lot more data open to the public

Dear LOD community,

Here are some salient points about open LOD from the US .gov

Todd Park, now US CTO, previously lead open health data initiatives
when he was CTO for the Whitehouse ONC Office of the Nartional
Coordinator for Health IT, he lead a comprehensive program to open up US
health data and LOD initiatives:

See: http://www.healthdata.gov/blog/domain-challenge-1-metadata

And Jim Hendler and his colleagues at RPI, are principally instrumental
in US .gov semweb activities - see:

http://data-gov.tw.rpi.edu/wiki

  and
IOGDS: International Open Government Dataset Search
http://logd.tw.rpi.edu/demo/international_dataset_catalog_search

Finally Danny Weizner, who has worked with Sir TimBL at w3C for several
years just finished a couple of years service with the White House
OSTP ( Office of Science and Technology Policy ) representing LOD and
semweb points of view.

I'm surepeople on this list know some of these folks, who can supply
more insight on .gov semweb and LOD programs.

Cheers-

Mike
