Job title: * Metadata Manager
Department: * IT Development
Reports to (job title): * Research Manager
Job purpose: * This role is tasked with the management of the semantic metadata extracted from PA text content to ensure concepts identified (e.g. people, places, organisations, events, topics) are correct. Additionally, it will be necessary to curate instance data for the entities for upcoming news events driven by the PA ontology (http://data.press.net/ontology/ <http://data.press.net/ontology/> ). This role is partly funded by the EU research project, AnnoMarket. It will be the responsibility of the metadata manager to ensure PA's current work in semantic data can be made use of by the project.
Proposed Salary: * £20 - 30k p.a.

Key responsibilities: *

*	Curation and management of large data-sets of reference data in RDF form.
*	Ability to find and correct data errors in RDF representations of data entities.
*	Specify and manage the data curation life-cycle and processes.
*	Author technical documentation relating to data curation and management.


Essential criteria: *

*	Complete understanding of the importance of data quality for an enterprise.
*	Experience with taxonomies and ontologies.
*	Familiarity and comfort with XML is a must.
*	Ability to interact with journalists, technical & data architects and software developers.

*	Ability to author technical documentation.


Desirable criteria: *

*	Knowledge of RDF framework.
*	Ability to work with RDF (RDF/XML, Turtle) data.
*	Knowledge and experience of one or more data query languages (eg SQL, SPARQL).

*	Knowledge of SPARQL query language.
*	Knowledge of OWL and RDFS reasoning a bonus.

*	Experience with data management tools such as Google Refine.
*	Ability to learn data management tools such as Google Refine.
