Re: Adjacency of elevators

Hello Antoine,

Elevetor is not actually according my point of view part of building itself, but it is mechanical equipment within.

Elevator shaft where elevator is actually installed, is part of building, and it consists of basically 6 walls (one with door openings of course) and it shall have one space which is overlapping all floors (mostly) (remember Einstein´s mind exercise with acceleration=gravity negation of 'falling in elevator"! => so from one point of view is it space within space ..but why to use this ?). Sometimes it is reason to create from elevator shafts separate zone for thermal comfort analysis and set it as non-heated space which is naturally ventilated.

Elevator itself has its own life cycle, purpose and even approach like insurance is treated differently within building insurance.

So maybe Your reason would answer You how to "describe" that.

Or no ?

best,

Předmět: Adjacency of elevators

Dear all,

While trying to model my workplace with BOT, I realised it is not clear
whether the elevator is a space or not (as it is moving) and if yes,
should it be considered adjacent to the spaces that it serves, at
different storeys?
