India International Program kick off meeting: PREREAD

iip folks,

We'll be holding our initial telecon for the Indic work this week
(Friday for most of us). Here is some information to help you prepare.
I'm expecting Alolita to send out an agenda and any other information
she wants us to read prior to the meeting.

COMMUNICATION

We'll use Webex. I recommend using the online access. Note that if you
haven't used Webex before you may need to install a client before you
can join the call. Please bear that in mind to avoid delays in joining.

We'll also use IRC during the call to record minutes, pass URLs, etc.
We'll use the #ilreq channel. Please familiarise yourself with IRC at
https://www.w3.org/Project/IRC/. You can test your setup in advance by
pinging me on the #i18n channel (my nickname is r12a).

You can find lots of useful information about how we run meetings at
https://w3c.github.io/i18n-activity/guidelines/process.html. Please try
to glance over that before the meeting.

BACKGROUND

Please try to find a moment to read the following before the call, so
you understand the framework for the work we plan to do:
https://github.com/w3c/i18n-discuss/wiki/Analysing-support-for-text-layout-on-the-Web
https://github.com/w3c/typography/wiki/Setting-up-a-Gap-Analysis-Project

WORK IN PROGRESS

The gap analysis results are summarised in a matrix at
https://w3c.github.io/typography/gap-analysis/language-matrix.html

We have three gap analysis documents in development so far:
Devanagari https://w3c.github.io/iip/gap-analysis/deva-gap.html
Gurmukhi https://w3c.github.io/iip/gap-analysis/guru-gap.html
Gujarati https://w3c.github.io/iip/gap-analysis/guju-gap.html

There is also some information available in the former ilreq document at
https://w3c.github.io/ilreq/

The github repo is at https://github.com/w3c/iip/

I look forward to speaking with you on Friday.

cheers,
ri
