namespace binding issue

   [12]http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=3319

Felix: Michael proposed to copy all namespace nodes

Sebastian: does this preserve the prefix
... I have no technical objection in using xmlns - how does it
   affect Felix?

   Felix: not sure

   Sebastian: if Michael is right
... we can drop the <ns> element

Felix: I'm not sure about external rules
... Michael will test this in an XSLT 1.0 implementation
   ... especially using global rules

Sebastian: if he does not succeed, we will keep <ns>?

   Felix: yes.

     [14] http://www.w3.org/2006/10/its-draft/

"The following parts of the specification are considered at risk:"

   Felix: look at this paragraph
... it says how we handle <ns>

Sebastian: if you tacke the rules element and put it through e.g. an
   identity transformation
... it might decide to throw away the declarations

Felix: that would not happen with XSLT

   Sebastian: might happen with DOM
... is it part of the PSVI?

Felix: I'm sure it is part of the PSVI
... I think it is possible in DOM
... it is not possible in SAX

   029.html

     [15] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-its/2006OctDec/0029.html

   Sebastian: three issues:
... can you do it? Is it sufficient? Does it survive XML
   transformation?

Felix: with Michael, only "can you do it?" is important

CR phase

Sebastian: how long does the CR phase last?

Felix: we planned at least until 10 December
... CR has no "last day" date
... Michael and I will work on the at the beginning of December

     [17] http://www.w3.org/International/its/tests/

Felix: we have to fill the implementation table

Sebastian: Yves does not directionality and others

Felix: I do just "useless" stuff, but comparable
   ... for all data categories

Sebastian: you don't have to do anything useful
... is the output format mandated somewhere?
... can whe change our minds about it?

   Felix: we can

Sebastian: basic things like generating "output-type" is not
   necessary
... can we resolve all this until the end of the month?

   Felix: should be possible

   <its:locNoteRule locNoteType="description"
   selector="//msg/data[../notes]"

   locNotePointer="../notes"/>

Sebastian: it still does not force you to have content in nodes
... you could write a predicate "the node has to exist and has to
   string length > 0"
... you might also ask "what happens if there are three ../notes"?
... the pointer could point to the root of the document or somewhere
   else

Felix: the most you can do is to give an best practice advice

Sebastian: an implementor should be sensitive what comes back after
   ITS processing

Felix: no need to define error condititions?

Sebastian: we discussed that before and decided not to have them

   Felix: I still agree

CR and after

Felix: we might have promotion for ITS for PR

BP document

Felix: will be a topic after CR and during the next phase 2007
... we might need some editing work on that next year

calls in November

Diane, Sebastian: available through the whole of November

Felix: out for next week. Let's have a call in two weeks again.
