Well, GIFs can only use 256 colors while the slides seem to use more
(the PNGs are true color ones in any case); you can use 256 color PNGs
(use some tool like image magick, for example) and crush them e.g. using
pngcrush. pngcrush alone should save 10-20% based on my quick testing.
