Yes it works, although it depends on browser.
for example, with Safari
 خلال  is completed to http://www.خلال.com/  (lead to a site with 
sponsored listings...)
خلال.org is completed to http://خلال.org/ (Can't find the server)

All depends on what do you mean by "work".

Completion doesn't necessarily  mean the IRI is still "readable".
Completion doesn't always lead you to the desired site. Many 
possibilities of spoofing here. An issue here?
