Yes, the spec expects the title & placeholder text in the example in comment 9
to be rtl, and the text inside the span/input to be ltr.

And yes, no browser implements this yet, although there seems to be some action
in Mozilla and Chrome.

I have no visibility into Microsoft, but as far as I know they have yet to
implement dir=auto in IE at all :-(
