I had originally meant something a little different: The element does not have
to be completely empty of descendants to be considered LTR (regardless of the
parent's directionality) - it just mustn't have any text descendants (except
those that are descended from a descendant with a dir attribute, etc.). But I
now see that this does not make much sense, and think that your current
phrasing is exactly right.
