Colleagues: The WAI Protocols and Formats Working Group (WAI_PFWG) notes that the HTML Working Group Charter identifies the Protocols and Formats Working Group as its primary WAI contact "to ensure that [its] deliverables will satisfy accessibility requirements." http://www.w3.org/2007/03/HTML-WG-charter.html#coordination http://www.w3.org/html/wg/#charter WAI_PFWG is aware of the HTML Working Group's intention to publish a Last Call imminently as expressed at: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2011May/0162.html As agreed in our regular teleconference logged at: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2011May/0162.html And as confirmed by email, as our common consensus procedure, beginning at: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-wai-pf/2011AprJun/0107.html WAI_PFWG hereby conveys its approval and agreement to this Last Call publication subject to the following two conditions, to wit: 1.) No assertion is to be made that the published documents are complete as to accessibility features. Rather, it is to be expressly and prominently noted in an Editorial Note that the published documents are still incomplete with respect to features that will support accessibility in HTML 5, and that we continue to work on those features even as this Last Call is published. 2.) That all significant issues or features currently in disagreement be noted by Editorial Notes inline in the HTML Last Call publications, with additional pointers to ongoing work on those features as may be mutually agreed between WAI_PFWG and the HTML-WG. WAI_PFWG has begun work on this list and will forward it to the HTML-WG in a timely manner. Regards, Janina PS: I am pleased to note that various email and direct conversations indicate substantive agreement from HTML with the direction expressed in this PF position. It is now very important to develop the list of open issues to be flagged promptly. See additional email on the HTML-A11Y list for more on this. -- Janina Sajka, Phone: +1.443.300.2200 sip:janina@asterisk.rednote.net Chair, Open Accessibility janina@a11y.org Linux Foundation http://a11y.org Chair, Protocols & Formats Web Accessibility Initiative http://www.w3.org/wai/pf World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
