Summary: for consistency with RFC 5988, link/@rel should allow
                    extension relation types
           Product: HTML WG
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
               URL: http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/Overview.html#the-link-el
                    ement
        OS/Version: Windows NT
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
Component: HTML5 spec (editor: Ian Hickson)
        AssignedTo: ian@hixie.ch
        ReportedBy: julian.reschke@gmx.de
         QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org

                    public-html@w3.org

For consistency with RFC 5988, the specification should allow "extension
relation types" (see http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5988#section-4.2).

Essentially that means making all relations using URI syntax be valid (and not
requiring registration).
