I'm willing to stay with Matt's initial proposal, as long as he doesn't
remove it.

If Matt's initial proposal, to remove the paragraph, continues being a
viable change proposal, I will continue to support it, as is. If Matt does
drop his support for the change proposal, then I ask that it be continued,
and I'll provide any support for it that it needs.
