I think that supplementing prose with a schema fragment with content  
model (or an example) might aid in understanding, but replacing it  
with any of them will only lead to confusion. I can think of ways in  
which a schema fragment or example might hurt though -- if content  
models and examples aren't used to clarify other points, they may  
lead a reader to believe that there is something unique or different  
about the description for head.

The text below seems to be very clear.
