Apologies if this has already been addressed in one of the dozens of 
emails still waiting for me, but...

It is not the job of authors to write markup on a per-client basis. 
That's insane, and it's a slippery slope (would you want a special 
markup subset for webtv?). Let people who make UAs for specific clients, 
the people who know those clients best, decided how best to implement 
existing markup. This not something authors should have to think about.
