Presentation

My apologies to be a bit late with this. As my signature shows, I am the Semantic Web Activity Lead at W3C, with more details on my person at [1].

I have been involved mainly in RDFa (I have been the staff contact for the RDFa Working Group for the past few years). I have implemented an RDFa 'distiller' code and service for RDFa 1.0[2] and I also have a version for RDFa 1.1[3] (the latter also has a 'validator' version[4] using the same code base.) I also had a separate distiller for microdata->RDF but have never published it on the Web. It first implemented the transformation defined in the microdata document but then played with small modifications on the URI definition for terms. (I am certainly happy to assist Gregg to write down the algorithm!)

My real goal is to help the advancement of structured data on the Web. I believe that, at this point in time, a peaceful coexistence of the various syntaxes, used by sometimes very different communities, should be our target. I think that the results and, shall we say, the atmosphere of the schema.org workshop in Mountain View[5] gives us a good basis to achieve that, so let us do it...

Ivan

P.S.1 Unless I refer to it explicitly in my mail, all my mails should be considered as being written with my Activity Lead's hat put down. They are meant to express my own technical opinion and not some sort of an official W3C standpoint.

P.S.2 Due to very personal reasons, I will be (much) less active in the November-December period. Do not take it as a loss of interest in the topic, but simply due to, as I said, personal issues.
