Before we can work on proposed text, we need to decide whether we want to
behave like certain readyStates, as in comment 7, or actually change the
readyState, as in comment 8. At first glance, the latter seems more correct but
a lot more intrusive and I'm not sure what the implications or side effects
would be.

What do others think?
