[Bug 12158] [device] It might be useful to have access to USB joysticks (maybe even with force-feedback) and other kinds of HID.

I ended up moving away from <device> as a generic mechanism, because I couldn't
work out how to make it work. If you have any concrete proposals, please don't
hesitate to reopen the bug and post them here (or on one of the lists). See

For joysticks in particular, events are probably a better solution.
