For example I have a drop-down box that is overlayed onto the video viewport.
There are a few lines of the Web page visible below the video viewport, but it
looks really ugly - and is possibly even off the page (see attached
screenshot).

Similarly when you do an iframe, the drop-down box may actually overlap into
the rest if the Web page and the Web page author has no means to control this.
