http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=13463 Summary: FIELDSET is listed Product: HTML WG Version: unspecified Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: HTML5 differences from HTML4 (editor: Anne van Kesteren) AssignedTo: simonp@opera.com ReportedBy: giecrilj@stegny.2a.pl QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org CC: mike@w3.org, public-html-wg-issue-tracking@w3.org, public-html@w3.org, annevk@opera.com FIELDSET controls are not form control elements in HTML 4 [1] and therefore do not constitute FORM elements in DOM Level 2 [2] but they do in HTML 5 [3]. That causes scripts with hardwired numeric indices to break. Hardwired numeric indices are indispensable to express a continuous range of controls (e.g. to enable all controls in a FIELDSET). This is a serious incompatibility and it is not mentioned.
