I'm going to bet that font support won't reliably permit styling a letter
separately from its diacritics, in general.  Things like color, maybe, but I'd
be very surprised if you could get bold/italics/font-face/etc. to work
reliably.  So I don't know how much sense it makes to allow this.  Something
should specify how it's rendered if authors do it, though.
