The "protocol" seems to be used about URI schemes with a trailing colon, but
in other places schemes are referred to. All instances of "protocol" in this
meaning should be replaced with a correct usage of "scheme", as standardized
by IETF.

Also, using "protocol" may cause confusion wrt other mentions of "network
protocol".
