            Bug ID: 21494

    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: HTML WG
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: PC
               URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/2013/WD-html-longdesc-20130312/#l
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2

        QA Contact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org
                CC: public-html-admin@w3.org,

This bug relates somewhat to Bug #21439.

I think it would be good to point out somewhere in the spec that the longdesc
attribute might contain a data URI, and thus that implementations must be
prepared to handle data URIs in the longdesc attribute.

* make vendors aware that we expect data URIs to work;
* make authors aware that they may use data URIs;
* avoid that data URIs only becomes a subject of the
  repair mechanism propsed in bug 21439.
