Currently, the AT will probably ignore it (as with any user agent that
encounters a role it doesn't understand), or it may trigger heuristic
evaluation depending on content. But I guess, current implementations aren't
the point right? As we are trying to improve the markup language and future UA
implementations. Hence many peoples support for this bug, as it seems like a
no-brainer.

FWIW, the image role=note etc is an interesting idea, but that should be an
expansion on the default which should really be that the default role of <IMG>
should be "img", unless any other annotation is explicitly provided by the
author.
