Re: keep CAPTCHA out of HTML5

Hi Gregory,

Thank you very for bringing up the CAPTCHA topic. At the beginning of
the month I asked for help with CAPTCHA [1] along with a lot of other
things in conjunction with the change proposal [2] for Issue 31
missing alt [3]. No one offered advice yet. So I really appreciate
your message.

I have filed two bugs regarding CAPTCHA: one on the HTML Spec [4] and
one on Steve's "HTML5 Techniques for providing useful text
alternatives" document [5].

Ian hasn't responded yet.

Steve did respond. Thank you, Steve. He provided text in his document
[6], which based on our HTML Action 54 [7], which you and Gez
reviewed. [8]. Does the text in Steve's document make sense to you? Or
has your opinion changed since we wrote Action 54? I know that you
recently posted on the CAPTCHA topic [9].

Would you recommend that HTML 5 simply say "For guidance on
accessibility requirements for text alternatives authors should
consult WCAG 2.0" and link to WCAG 2.0 and say nothing about CAPTCHA
in the HTML5 documents? That is the substance of bug 9241 [10].

WCAG 2.0 already has two techniques documents [11] [12] so maybe
nothing in HTML5 is needed?

Thanks again for starting this discussion.

Best Regards,
Laura
