          Platform: PC
               URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/interactive-
                    elements.html#building-menus-and-tool-bars
        OS/Version: Windows NT
            Status: NEW
          Keywords: a11y
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: HTML5 spec bugs
        AssignedTo: dave.null@w3.org
        ReportedBy: gez.lemon@gmail.com

                    html-a11y@w3.org

The spec says: An option element that has a value attribute set to the empty
string, and has a disabled attribute, and whose textContent consists of a
string of one or more hyphens (U+002D HYPHEN-MINUS) will append a separator to
the menu.

As hr is supported, why is the special example required?
