Happy to bump this higher up in my priority list for WebIDL. Seems like fixing option 2 is a no brainer. Haven't thought about option 3 at all in terms of what it would imply for WebIDL. New syntax? Etc. Tracking this in https://github.com/heycam/webidl/issues/345.
