I'll spare you alot of arguments, but because "microformats" are a
closed vocabulary, is not open-ended and does not scale to unlimited
vocabularies - there is a rigorous process[1] that usually weeds out
alot of things.

The worry is that the term 'microformats' might become synonymous with
any semantic mark-up, whereas the current definition of 'microformats'
is more specific.
