A filter primitive that is missing, but would be very useful, is a median filter.  Use cases for a median filter include:

- removing impulse noise from images, or other filter primitive results
- removing anti-aliasing artifacts from abutting shapes

Michael Mullany put together a very clever hack](https://codepen.io/mullany/pen/dmbvz) that gets a pretty good result using existing primitives.  But a proper median filter would be useful for both SVG and CSS in general.
