Since Chris is editor on both specifications parts (CSS3 Color and SVG Color), it may does not make a difference on his work. And because it is part of SVG 1.1, I assume that there are implementations supporting this already. If not this will be a blocking issue for SVG2 in the long term. fantasai and I are now editting (unofficially so far) Colors 4. Whatever SVG needs, we'd be happy to copy over. ~TJ
