One suggestion I would have is not to call it deserialiation (or even  
deserialization :-) ). The opposite of 'serialize' is 'parse', but I think  
'format' would be more expressive:

   ... xmlns:sklar="http://www.sklar.com/some.namespace" ...
   <submission method="get" resource="http://example.com/search.php"
   		format="sklar:badgerfish"
           ref="instance('search')"
           replace="instance">
