       Thank you very much for your timely clarification. I guess this point
can be clearly specified under document grammar section of EXI spec or in
the EXI primer. Because the EXI primer gives a notion that SE(*) production
is not required in strict schema encoding.

HI Santhanakrishnan,

 

Yes, the SE(*) production is required in the Document grammar for
conformance with the XML Schema specification. In particular, the XML Schema
specification allows you to use an undeclared element as the document root
as long as you provide a valid xsi:type for that element and the content
conforms to the specified type definition. See part 1.2 of the section
"Validate Rule : Schema-Validity Assessment (Element)" [1] in the XML Schema
specification for details.

Hi EXI Experts

       Will the document grammar give in section 8.5.1 for schema informed
mode remain same for strict and non-strict modes of schema informed
encoding. Particularly the presence of SE (*) production in Document
grammar. Will it have to be retained in the case of strict mode of encoding
also.
