Issue: versionIRI for SKOS-DL ontology

Dear all,

I just reviewed the issue with the missing versionIRI in the OWL DL version of the SKOS ontology.

The proposed solution

> That http://www.w3.org/2009/08/skos-reference/skos-owl1-dl.rdf
>
> be edited to add the triple:
>
> <http://www.w3.org/2004/02/skos/core>
> <http://www.w3.org/2002/07/owl#versionIRI>
> <http://www.w3.org/TR/skos-reference/skos-owl1-dl.rdf> .

ensures conformance of the two SKOS versions (Full and DL) with the OWL 2 specification [1].

Although the wording in the specification is in terms of "previous" and "future" versions, there is no formal reason why the OWL 2 versioning mechanism does not also apply to *alternate* versions of (essentially) the same ontology. I believe this was also the intention of the WG.

Best,

Rinke
(former member of the OWL WG)
