suggestions and comments for SKOS Core guide and spec

Hi all, happy new year!

Just to bring everyone on this list up to speed with SKOS development:
before christmas I completed a new draft of the SKOS Core Guide [1], I also
tidied up the SKOS Core Vocabulary Specification [2] so it was in line with
what I was writing in the guide. I'm sorry I didn't do this work more
openly, I was trying to get a coherent draft together as quickly as
possible, so these drafts could go into internal review stage within the
Semantic Web Best Practises Working Group before christmas. I figured we
could all then work on refining (or reworking as necessary) the drafts in
the new year, with input from SWBP-WG reviews as they come.

I would like to ask the members of this mailing list to comment on [1] and
[2] at this stage, bearing in mind that these are NOT yet public working
drafts (i.e. our goal is to get them into a state that is suitable for first
working draft publication by W3C). Any areas you can highlight that you
think need attention would be useful. I hope we can then use this list to
work on text for revisions.

Two areas to bring to attention immediately:

(1) The absract and introduction for both [1] and [2] I found very difficult
to write, and am not satisfied with. Any suggestions here most welcome.

(2) The examples in both [1] and [2] could be better I think. I adapted
many of the examples in [1] straight from the new BS8723 draft (Stella,
Leonard, is that OK to do?) I was thinking it might be better to use
examples of concepts that *don't* fit usefully into the class/instance
modelling framework would be good (i.e. concepts like 'justice' 'trust'
'love' etc.) ???

That's all for now.

Yours,

Al.
