Of the suggestions so far I'd prefer something like hiddenLabel or 
noDisplayLabel, as these make it clear that we are talking about a 
sub-class of altLabel (i.e. non-preferred term) that is not normally 
shown in displays of the thesaurus.

searchLabel is not appropriate because as has been pointed out all types 
of label may be used for searching.
