Subject: Introduction

Hi All

Just a quick introduction from a newbie as suggested in my welcome email.

My name is Trent Betts, I am currently working for Vision Australia as an accessible format producer (creating large print, braille, tactual diagrams, DAISY and EPUB), specialising in transcription of STEM material which is not accessible.

Given my current role, and the fact that we are creating increasingly more EPUB content, my main interest is in EPUB Accessibility. But of course I would like to be useful and provide input wherever I can.

I have a software/web development background and have previously worked in the eLearning industry. There I spent many years working with and analysing the SCORM standard which allows e-learning courses to interact with learning management systems. So although I am relatively new to EPUB publishing, I understand the differing technical needs of publishers and reading systems.

Being based in Sydney Australia, the weekly meeting occur for me at 4am, so excuse me if my voice sounds like I just got out of bed.

Trent
