A quick intro from me -  I know a few people on this list already for
having met in person
like Renato and Tomi (Tomi we met at a conference once a few years ago, but
I do not remember you were working in emergency/crisis management at that
time, or am I wrong, good to see you here)  and a few people having met
online (Christoper, via SMERST PC)

Hello everybody

I am a systems engineer (mostly information/knowledge systems, the
cognitive layer
of systems), specialising in socio-technical systems. I worked for some
years in publishing - first as a London based science and technology
correspondent (sole 24 ore, 1995 2000 if memory serves me), then as an
online editor and publisher for various startups, and eventually as an
author and research analyst for Cutter.com (as of 2005). I started teaching
courses internationally in web based technologies and information systems,
when the 2004 Tsunami occurred I was in Asia and started working on web
information management and coordination efforts, and have been following
closely development ever since.  I speak 5 languages rather fluently, hold
an MSc in IT and a recently completed PhD in knowledge systems in the UK, I
am now visiting faculty at
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)

Met Renato at some conference and together with other folks contributed to
the EIIF framework, that some of you may have heard of, a tentative model
to serve as the conceptual basis for an emergency vocabulary, an early W3C
effort in this space.

I am currently chairing another W3C community (semantic web interfaces) so
I would not hurry to put myself forward for office here, however if
additional candidates are required to cover some admin/coord duties let me
know anytime.

I am very glad to see activities continue, and hopefully advance, via the
integration of different groups and individuals, I think although some of
the work we are doing may end up being discarded, it's the going around in
loops that will help us define the field.

Look forward to the plan, and let me know if there is anything that needs
doing

something
