European Commission launches ICT specifications search service to promote interoperability in the EU

Dear all,

As the chair of the first Asset Description Metadata Schema (ADMS)
working-group [1], it is a great pleasure to inform you that the European
Commission has launched a new, and innovative, online service, based on
ADMS (vocabulary to describe ICT specifications in RDF or XML). This
service makes it easier to find ICT specifications that have been used to
develop information systems. More than 1300 specifications from 16
participating organisations (W3C, GS1, Xrepository, etc) are now
accessible and searchable through the European Commission Joinup Portal:
http://joinup.ec.europa.eu/catalogue/all
Both ADMS and the search service were developed with the support of the
ISA Programme [2], the European Commission?s programme to foster
interoperability, sharing and re-use between public administrations.
ADMS was recently published by W3C?s Government Linked Data (GLD) Working
Group as a First Public Working Draft [3]. We would like to thank everyone
who contributed to the ADMS specification and its adoption across the EU.
