"In addition, W3C renewed today the eGovernment Interest Group
<http://www.w3.org/egov/IG/>, a forum for building and strengthening the
community of people who use or promote the use of W3C technologies to
improve Government. That group identifies and discusses essential areas
of technology and related policy issues; see the full eGov Interest
Group charter <http://www.w3.org/egov/IG/charter-2011> and learn more
about eGovernment at W3C <http://www.w3.org/egov/>."

Hi all

A little over a month ago I posted the following:

On behalf of the Invited Expert (Public Members) participants to the W3C e-Government Interest Group I would like to strongly urge member organizations to support the continuing work of the W3C in this space.

Many of us come from within Government and Academia, often where our respective employers cannot or will not become member organizations. None the less, the work of the IG has been instrumental in not only facilitating the free exchange of ideas and promotion of W3C standards between countries and agencies, but has been somewhat instrumental in the move towards Linked Open Data and the data.gov.* efforts by Governments worldwide.

Please support our continued work in these very exciting times for Government in an online world.

The response from list members in supporting this call to action was
quite frankly, awesome and unexpected on my part. And here we are, some
5 weeks later, with a newly recharted eGov IG.

So I'm posting again:

On behalf of all members and participants to the W3C e-Government
Interest Group, I would like to extend our thanks to the W3C member
organisations for choosing to support the continuing work of the W3C in
this space, in parallel with the new Government Linked Data Working Group.

I assume that there is some sort of internal member organisation channel
- Sandro, Jose or others - if you could pass this on, I certainly, and
no doubt others, would very much appreciate it.

Here's to the next two years of activity!

Cheers
