Re: Notes from 2 November (GLD) Meeting

Sandro,

Thanks for sharing the minutes, much appreciated. Some notes on it:

+ "I've never heard anyone assess quality or suitability of VoiD",
"implementation experience", etc. - see [1]: voiD is widely used and we plan
to submit a SWIG Note (of voiD 2.0 [2]) soon.

+ "VoiD has been designed without DCAT in mind" ... ahm, true, but given
that voiD is around since 2008 and DCAT only recently, I'm unsure how
valuable this statement is. We have identified the issue of aligning voiD
and DCAT [3] and it will be addressed (and given that Richard is involved in
both voiD and DCAT, I think it is safe to assume that this will happen ;)

+ We're very interested in the development of DataCube and plan to
contribute quite a lot there (tools and data).

+ You mentioned the 5 star plan for open data, which I think should be
central to the WG and for this I'd like people to have a look at [4] as well
(which gives concrete examples and cost/benefits).

Looking forward to see the final draft for the charter and will do my best
to support the activity (this time with my AC rep hat on ;)

Cheers,
      Michael
