" There is logical semantic "inheritance" " - hence the abstract model has inheritance and this is supported by the profiles ontology " that is, every profile is a stand-alone." - hence the profiles ontology supports implementations that are "flat" The issue of non-conformance is more complicated - no formalism would ever allow this - so if this is the case they are not profiles of each other - only confusingly named.
