records, was RE: rawgit replacement

Lets not confuse the issues here.

Rawgit has got nothing to do with record keeping or archives.
Rawgit is merely an externally hosted service to render HTML drawn from non-head-branches in a repo.
As I already pointed out, the announcement that rawgit is ceasing has no effect on us, as the end date is after the end of the DXWG, by which time anything on branches that we like should have been merged into the head anyway.

OTOH Record keeping natively in GitHub will be as good as Microsoft choose to make it.
As Karen points out, there is also a W3C backup option, which of course will be as good as W3C are able to make it ...

W3C has a bot that copies content from github to a local W3C store. The purpose is to make sure the record of activity is preserved. I know very little about this, but believe that it needs to be set up for each group. I'll make myself a note to check at TPAC who can give us information about this.
