Data Usage Vocabulary team activities

As reported a few weeks ago, an effort is currently underway by Bernadette
and I to revise the Data Usage Vocabulary definition.  Our challenges
included:

·      Current DWBP use cases didn’t offer sufficient detail on data usage.


·      Current view on data usage tended to be a bit narrow focusing on
applications and science



Since that time several efforts were initiated:

·      Additional candidate use cases were solicited from members of the
working group.

·      Example data usage vocabularies were examined

·      Web/literature searches were conducted to explore other data usage
use cases.

·      A list of questions were compiled to help explore kinds of data
usage in applications, collaborations, data exploration and discovery,
trending and metrics, scientific and B2B data handling



Path forward:

·      A wiki page will be set up describing our current efforts, and we
want to have:

·      At the F2F meeting the following could be discussed:

o   A list of data usage oriented candidate use cases currently under
development

o   proposed scope of the data usage vocabulary

o   any elements of the draft vocabulary reviewed.
