Welcome to the Device and Sensors Working Group

Hi Thomas,

On behalf of the group, welcome to the Device and Sensors Working Group!

See the group's home page [1] for useful pointers to get started. For technical discussions, you'll want to navigate to the GitHub repos where the action is. Search for "(GitHub)" at [1].

This group's mailing list [2] (cc'd) is mainly used for announcements, meeting scheduling, and weekly digests for busy people, such as [3].

We have teleconferences when the group feels it'd be beneficial to hash out issues in a synchronous manner. At max, twice a month. We'll attempt to meet F2F 1-2 times a year, including during the W3C TPAC meetings week.

Related to your interests, we're expecting to add two new specifications to this group when we recharter during 2Q 2018: Geolocation Sensor [4] (graduating from WICG incubation) and Device Orientation Event [5] (adopted from the now closed Geolocation WG). I've already acknowledged your contributions to the former and look forward to your continued future contributions. Meanwhile, you can continue contribute to Geolocation Sensor spec as a WICG participant as usual.

Recently, the group reached a major milestone when six of its Sensor APIs were published as Candidate Recommendations [6] signaling feature completeness (for "Level 1") and implementation readiness.

Please reach out to me or the group's W3C Team contacts Fuqiao and Dom (cc'd) for any questions. We're happy to help.

Also, feel free to briefly introduce yourself and your interests toward the group.

Thanks,

-Anssi (Device and Sensors WG Chair)
