Device APIs and Policy Working Group chartered

Hello,

W3C officially approved the creation of the Device APIs and Policy
Working Group, with the charter at:
http://www.w3.org/2009/05/DeviceAPICharter
and the two co-Chairs Robin Berjon, Frederick Hirsch.

The only modification to the charter compared to what was sent to the
W3C Advisory Committee was a note that use cases and requirements should
make sure to address the non-mobile environments.

This mailing list (public-device-apis@w3.org) will now serve as the main
communication channel for the new Working Group, whose home page is at:
http://www.w3.org/2009/DeviceAPI/

In addition, a Member-only mailing list member-device-apis@w3.org has
been set up for Member-confidential topics, as well as logistical
discussions. That mailing list will be automatically populated with
Working Group participants email addresses.

To join officially the new Working Group, if you are employed by a W3C
Member, you need to ask your Advisory Committee Representative to
nominate you to the group as explained in:
http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/43696/instructions
(the sooner, the better)

If you are not employed by a W3C Member and think you have specific
expertise to bring to this group, please look at the above page on how
to get Invited Expert status.

As announced previously on this list, the first face to face meeting for
this group has been tentatively scheduled during the W3C TPAC 2009 week
in Santa-Clara, CA, USA:
http://www.w3.org/2009/11/TPAC/
with registration open at:
http://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/35125/TPAC09/

We will confirm that decision during our first teleconference, whose
date and time will likely be decided by the Chairs and Staff Contacts
before we define a time for a regular weekly teleconference based on
everyone's availabilities through a questionnaire.

Looking forward to work with you all,

Dom - Staff Contact for the DAP WG
