@LeaVerou Your proposal somewhat overlaps with `object-fit` mentioned earlier. And you're mixing scaling and tiling. The use case of tiling and repeating the image sounds reasonable. Though I wonder why we need a `sliced()` function and how you'd imagine that to work, especially outside of border images. Also, so far, all descriptors work in the context of the image. A `sliced()` function would have to work in the context in which the image is used, right?
