@craigkovatch You and anyone else are free to raise issues, ideally with concrete usecases which can be very helpful. For the consensus, CSS Working Group does have some consensus on the current approach. The alternative approach existing in WebKit and Blink-based browsers, on the other hand, has strong objections from several vendors. You can refer to, for example, [this minutes](https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/1958#issuecomment-402670195) and see discussion of a related topic.
